"Some, 1581 primary school pupils failed to complete standard seven for various reasons, including pregnancy and truancy (absense) between 2005 an this year.
Mpanda District Commissuioner Tobias Mazanzala told the Prime Minister, Mr Edward Lowassa, on Tuesday that many girls got pregnant before reaching the seventh year at scholl.
He told the premier that some pupils left school due to hardship and others got married. He said this year, 386 boys and 140 girls abandoned studies in primary schools. Mr Mazanzala told the premier that reports this year show that primary school drop-outs reached 14 per cent, while in secondary schools 5 per cent failed to finish studies."
